Lagos Police Smash Notorious Cult Hit Squad in Ojo: 4 Arrested, Guns and Ammo Seized
The Lagos State Police Command has dealt another blow to violent crime with the arrest of four suspected cultists and hitmen linked to a string of killings in the Ajegunle/Ajangbadi area of Ojo.
Acting on credible intelligence, operatives stormed a hotel in Ajangbadi and apprehended Emmanuel Nwokolo, 35, alias “Oblo”; Ayola Israel, 39, alias “Essy Pawpaw”; Ebuka Nnamdi, 31; and Chinedu Okafor, 22.
Preliminary findings point to the suspects’ involvement in multiple violent attacks. Investigators recovered a video from one suspect’s phone that allegedly shows the killing of unidentified persons within Ajangbadi and nearby communities.
During interrogation, all four reportedly confessed to membership of the Aiye Confraternity and admitted to terrorising residents through killings and other violent crimes.
A search of the location yielded two locally fabricated pistols, one revolver pistol, and thirteen live cartridges believed to have been used in their operations.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, praised the operatives for the successful raid and reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to rid Lagos of cultism and violent crimes.
“Let this serve as a clear warning: there is no safe haven for those who threaten the peace of Lagosians,” CP Fatai said. “We will track down every accomplice and ensure they face the full weight of the law.”
Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full scope of the gang’s activities, identify other members, and arrest fleeing accomplices. The suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.
