The Minister of Power has met with Distribution Companies (DisCos) as the government advances plans to establish dedicated electricity zones with the potential for round-the-clock power supply.
The discussions form part of ongoing efforts to improve electricity reliability and develop a more structured approach to power distribution across the country.
The proposed 24-hour power zones could provide more predictable electricity to selected communities, businesses and other users, subject to the availability of sufficient generation, transmission and distribution capacity.
Nigeria’s power sector continues to face challenges across the electricity value chain, making coordination between the Federal Government, generating companies, transmission operators and DisCos critical to improving supply.
The meeting with the DisCos signals another step in the government’s efforts to address persistent electricity shortages and improve the experience of electricity consumers.
