TikToker Fati Cele Detained Over Boyfriend Isma’il Makaye’s Death in Danbare
Kano State Police Command has taken popular TikToker Fati Cele into custody following the death of her boyfriend, Isma’il Makaye, at her home in Danbare, Kumbotso LGA.
Makaye, a cosmetics dealer from Hotoro Tishama, was discovered with burn wounds and blood stains. Fati Cele raised an alarm about a fire at the residence, after which neighbors rushed him to Nassarawa Hospital. Doctors later confirmed he had died.
Officers from Dorayi Babba Division arrested Fati Cele. Kano Police PRO, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the detention to journalists via WhatsApp on Saturday and said investigations are still ongoing.
Sources close to the couple said they had been dating for over 2 years. They reportedly separated after Makaye got married, but later reconciled. Friends also mentioned there had been issues in their relationship in the past.
Makaye’s corpse was released to his family and he was laid to rest on Friday at Unguwa Uku Yan Awaki according to Islamic burial rites.
The incident has sparked strong reactions online. Users on X and TikTok are demanding a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. Many described it as mysterious and are calling on authorities to ensure justice. As of now, police have not announced an official cause of death.
