Nigeria Police Launch Vigilant App to Help Nigerians Report and Track Financial Fraud
The new platform allows users to report suspected fraud, upload evidence and monitor the progress of their cases
ABUJA, Nigeria: The Nigeria Police Force has launched a new digital platform, the NPF Vigilant App, designed to help Nigerians report suspected financial fraud and track their complaints electronically.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, launched the app on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the NPF Conference Centre in Jabi, Abuja.
According to the Police, the citizen-facing platform was developed by the Force ICT Department in collaboration with stakeholders in Nigeria’s financial-services sector.
The NPF Vigilant App is designed to provide bank account holders with a digital channel to report suspected financial fraud and unauthorised transactions, submit supporting evidence and follow the progress of their cases.
How the NPF Vigilant App works
Users can register on the platform and report a suspected fraudulent transaction by providing the required information.
The app allows users to:
- Report suspected financial fraud.
- Submit details of unauthorised transactions.
- Upload relevant supporting evidence.
- Receive a case ID.
- Track the progress of their complaints.
- Receive feedback on reported cases.
The platform is intended to improve coordination between the Police, financial institutions and other relevant organisations involved in investigating and resolving financial-fraud cases.
Police urge Nigerians to use the app responsibly
Speaking at the launch, IGP Disu described the initiative as part of the Force’s wider digital transformation efforts.
He stressed that technology used in policing must be deployed lawfully, ethically and responsibly, with appropriate consideration for citizens’ rights, privacy, data protection and accountability.
The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Information and Communication Technology, Fayoade Mustapha, also urged Nigerians to download the app and use it responsibly when reporting suspected financial fraud.
NPF launches MTN communication network
The Vigilant App was launched alongside the NPF-MTN Closed User Group (CUG) Network, a dedicated communication system intended to improve communication among police personnel across the country.
The Police said the network will support emergency coordination, information sharing, and operational response, while the Vigilant App focuses on strengthening public engagement and financial-fraud reporting.

The NPF Vigilant App is currently available on the Google Play Store. The official app listing describes it as a platform for reporting, tracking and seeking recovery of unauthorised transactions.

The Police also said the app is available through the Apple App Store. Users should ensure they download the genuine application and avoid unofficial copies.
Important note
Submitting a complaint through the app does not automatically mean that stolen funds will be recovered. Each case will be subject to investigation and coordination with the relevant financial institution and other authorities.
The Police said the platform is intended to make the reporting and tracking of financial fraud complaints faster, more accessible and easier for members of the public.
