Dangote Refinery Takes ‘Made in Nigeria’ Message to Times Square

Nigeria’s $20 billion refinery gets global visibility in New York as its landmark public offering continues.

NEW YORK, UNITED STATES: The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has taken its “Made in Nigeria. Built for the World” message to one of the world’s most recognisable advertising locations, with the refinery featured on a giant digital billboard in New York’s iconic Times Square.

Dangote Group President and Chief Executive, Aliko Dangote, was pictured in Times Square alongside members of the company’s senior leadership team as the refinery’s campaign appeared on the electronic billboard.

The display comes just days after the Dangote Refinery launched its landmark Initial Public Offering (IPO) in Nigeria. The offer is seeking to raise about ₦2.15 trillion, equivalent to roughly $1.6 billion, with the proceeds expected to support the refinery’s expansion plans and broader development.

The refinery, located in the Lekki Free Zone in Lagos, began operations in 2024 and has a current production capacity of about 700,000 barrels per day, according to recent reporting. The Times Square appearance gives the Nigerian-owned industrial project an international platform as the company seeks to broaden public ownership and attract investors through the IPO.

The Dangote IPO is scheduled to remain open until October 13, 2026, according to the refinery’s official public-offer information.
