Veteran Nollywood Actor Davis Offor, ‘Clarus’ of ‘The New Masquerade’, Dies at 85

Davis Offor, the beloved Nollywood actor who charmed audiences with his iconic role as Clarus in the classic sitcom ‘The New Masquerade’, has passed away at the age of 85.

The news of his demise was announced by fellow actor Tony Akposheri, who played Zacky in the same series, in an emotional tribute on his Facebook page on Tuesday, April 7.

Akposheri recalled spending time with Offor during the New Year, sharing memories and discussing plans for the future.

He described Offor as more than just a colleague, but a dear friend and brother whose warmth, humour, and vibrant presence left lasting impressions on everyone around him. “You were more than a familiar face on screen.

You were a friend, a brother, a man with warmth, humour, and a presence that could light up any space,” Akposheri wrote.

Offor’s portrayal of Clarus, a boastful and comedic character, earned him national recognition and endeared him to audiences across Nigeria.

The sitcom, which aired on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in the 1980s, cemented his place in the nation’s entertainment history.
