APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda Embarks On Two-Week Vacation Abroad
The All Progressives Congress national chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, has reportedly proceeded on a two-week vacation abroad, with the party’s affairs expected to continue under its established leadership structure during his absence.
ABUJA, Nigeria: The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has embarked on a two-week vacation outside Nigeria following what the ruling party described as an exceptionally demanding first year of his tenure.
The development was announced in a statement issued by Abimbola Tooki, Special Adviser to the APC National Chairman on Media and Information Strategy.
According to the statement, the vacation is intended to allow Yilwatda to rest, recharge and reflect on the responsibilities ahead as the APC prepares for the 2027 general elections.
The party said Yilwatda’s first year as national chairman had involved extensive consultations, travels, party engagements and strategic activities aimed at repositioning and strengthening the APC.
Since assuming office, Yilwatda has worked with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), state governors, members of the National Assembly, state party structures, elected officials and other stakeholders as part of efforts to build a stronger and more electorally competitive APC.
APC Affairs To Continue During His Absence
The party stressed that Yilwatda’s temporary absence would not affect the day-to-day running of the APC.
The National Working Committee is expected to continue discharging its responsibilities in line with the party’s constitution and established procedures while the chairman is away.
Yilwatda is also expected to use the period to reflect on the next phase of his leadership and fine-tune preparations for an upcoming NWC retreat.
The retreat is expected to provide an opportunity for the party’s leadership to assess its progress, consider emerging political challenges and develop strategies ahead of the 2027 elections.
2027 Election Preparations
Yilwatda’s vacation comes at a politically significant period as parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The APC is seeking to consolidate its position at the federal level and strengthen its structures across the country ahead of the elections.
The national chairman is expected to return after two weeks and resume his official engagements as the party moves into a more intense phase of political mobilisation.
The APC has described the break as a period for rest and rejuvenation rather than a withdrawal from his responsibilities as national chairman.
