Professor Nentawe Yilwatda has been re-elected as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with Surajudeen Basiru emerging as the party’s National Secretary.
Both men were confirmed on Friday night during the party’s 4th Elective National Convention held at Eagle Square in Abuja.
According to the Convention Election Committee, their emergence – along with other party officials – was settled through a consensus arrangement.
The event drew a strong presence of top figures, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas.
The convention, themed “Unity in Progress: Consolidating the Renewed Hope Agenda,” was organised by a planning committee led by Aminu Bello Masari and Anyim Pius Anyim.
In his remarks, President Tinubu commended the party’s cohesion since 2023, describing the gathering as a significant milestone for both the APC and Nigeria’s democratic journey.
He noted that the convention offered an opportunity for members to reaffirm their shared values, strengthen internal ties, and recommit to the vision that brought the party together.
Party leaders also emphasised that the exercise is part of a broader strategy to reposition the APC and reinforce its structure ahead of upcoming political engagements.
