Blessing CEO Remanded In EFCC Custody Over Alleged N36m Fraud Case
Court orders remand as bail application awaits hearing in Lagos
Popular Nigerian media personality and relationship advisor, Blessing CEO, has been remanded in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after being arraigned before a Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, over an alleged N36 million fraud case.
She was brought before Justice D.I. Dipeolu on charges bordering on obtaining money under false pretence and alleged conversion of funds.
Prosecutors told the court that the defendant allegedly received N36 million from a complainant, Mrs Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye, between July 14 and July 17, 2024. The money was reportedly meant for the purchase of a six-bedroom duplex in Lekki, Lagos.
The EFCC alleged that the representation made during the transaction was false and that the funds were diverted for personal use.
During the hearing, Blessing’s CEO pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Her lawyer, P.I. Nwafor, informed the court that part of the funds had already been refunded, stating that about N24 million had been returned to the complainant.
After listening to both sides, Justice Dipeolu ordered that she be remanded in EFCC custody pending the determination of her bail application.
The case has been adjourned for further hearing.
