Burna Boy & Shakira Drop Explosive 2026 World Cup Anthem ‘Dai Dai’
Colombian music superstar, Shakira and Nigerian Grammy-winning Afrobeats sensation, Burna Boy, have officially unveiled “Dai Dai,” the official theme song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The highly anticipated track was released on Friday, with Shakira announcing the launch on her social media platforms.
“Dai Dai is here. The @FIFAWorldCup 2026 starts now!” the singer wrote.
The song is currently available on major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and Amazon Music.
FIFA also confirmed the release in a statement shared via its official X account, describing the song as a celebration of the energy, passion and global unity associated with the World Cup.
According to the football governing body, “Dai Dai” was released through Sony Music Latin and will serve as the official song supporting the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.
FIFA said the initiative aims to raise 100 million dollars before the end of the tournament to provide children around the world with access to quality education and football opportunities.
The organisation further disclosed that Shakira would donate all royalties earned from the song to the fund, while Sony Music pledged to match the first 250,000 dollars raised with an additional contribution.
The inspirational track focuses on themes of resilience, ambition and unity, while also paying tribute to several football legends and global stars.
Among the names mentioned in the song are Pelé, Diego Maradona, Paolo Maldini, Romário, Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrés Iniesta, David Beckham, Kaká, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Mohamed Salah.
The lyrics also reference football powerhouse nations including Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia, the United States, England, Germany, France, South Africa, Spain, Mexico, Japan, South Korea and the Netherlands.
The release marks Shakira’s return to the FIFA World Cup stage after the massive success of “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and “La La La” for the 2014 tournament in Brazil.
For Burna Boy, the collaboration represents another major milestone for Nigerian music on the global football stage.
He becomes the second Nigerian artiste to feature on an official FIFA World Cup soundtrack after Davido, who made history during the 2022 tournament in Qatar with “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)” alongside Trinidad Cardona and Qatari singer, Aisha.
Meanwhile, FIFA also announced that Nigerian Afrobeats star, Rema, will headline the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles, United States, on June 12.
The tournament itself is scheduled to kick off on June 11, with Mexico facing South Africa at the iconic Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
