The atmosphere at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, was filled with pride and emotion as the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, decorated eighty newly promoted officers with their new ranks.
The officers, who have been elevated from the rank of Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police II (ASP II), stood before their colleagues, families, and friends as they received the insignias that marked a new chapter in their careers.

Addressing the gathering, CP Jimoh congratulated the officers, describing their promotion as a “well-deserved reward” for years of dedication, hard work, and professionalism on the job. He noted that each new rank carries a story of sacrifice—long nights on duty, difficult decisions in the line of service, and unwavering commitment to keeping Lagos residents safe.
However, the Commissioner was quick to remind them that promotion is not just a badge of honour, but a call to do more.
He charged the newly promoted ASPs to see their elevation as an invitation to higher standards of discipline and deeper respect for human rights. He emphasised the importance of community-oriented policing, urging them to strengthen trust between the Police and the public, and to remember that every action they take shapes how citizens perceive the Force.

“Your new rank means greater responsibility,” he stressed, encouraging them to carry their new status with humility, integrity, and a renewed sense of duty.
CP Jimoh also expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, as well as the Police Service Commission, for their unwavering commitment to the welfare and motivation of officers through timely promotions. He noted that such gestures do more than change ranks—they lift morale across the Force and ultimately improve the quality of police service delivery.

The event ended on a celebratory note, with handshakes, photographs, and quiet moments of reflection among officers who understand that while a new rank is an achievement, it is also a promise—to do better, serve better, and protect better.
