Residents of 10 local government areas in Oyo State will be under a 16-hour daily curfew following a directive from Governor Seyi Makinde.
The Oyo State Government announced that the restriction will take effect from Wednesday, June 24, 2026, and will run from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. each day for an initial period of 48 hours.
The decision was conveyed in a memo issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, and signed by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, on Tuesday.
The curfew affects local government areas located around the Old Oyo National Park. Those affected are Oriire (Ikoyi-Ile), Orelope (Igboho), Irepo (Kisi), Saki West (Saki), Saki East (Ago-Amodu), Atisbo (Tede/Ago-Are), Itesiwaju (Otu), Iseyin (Iseyin), Olorunsogo (Igbeti), and Atiba (Offa-Meta, Oyo).
Authorities, however, did not disclose the reason for imposing the curfew in the statement.
