WARSAW — *Verified: Europe shuts doors on Ye as Poland becomes the latest country to block Kanye West from performing, cancelling his June 19 concert at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów.
The rapper’s European tour is collapsing under mounting backlash over past antisemitic remarks, praise of Nazism, and sale of swastika merchandise. Organisers confirmed the cancellation on Friday, citing _“formal and legal reasons”_ behind the decision.
Poland Declares Ye Concert ‘Unacceptable’
Stadium director Adam Strzyzewski announced the cancellation in a Facebook statement: “We would like to inform you that the Ye (Kanye West) concert planned for 19 June 2026 at the… Slaski stadium will not take place due to formal and legal reasons”_.
Polish Culture Minister Marta Cienkowska was direct on X on April 16: _“the decision to organize a Kanye West concert in Poland is unacceptable”_.
She added: _“We are talking about an artist who has publicly expressed antisemitic views, downplayed crimes, and profited from selling swastika T-shirts. These are not ‘controversies.’ This is a deliberate crossing of boundaries and the normalization of hatred”_.
_“In a country scarred by the history of the Holocaust, we cannot pretend that this is just entertainment,”_ Cienkowska said. _“Artistic freedom does not mean giving a free pass to everything. Culture cannot be a space for those who exploit it to spread hatred”
More than 1.1 million people, most of them Jews, were murdered at the Auschwitz death camp in Nazi-occupied Poland during World War Two. Nazi Germany killed more than 3 million of Poland’s 3.2 million Jewish population.
UK, France, Switzerland Join As Europe Shuts Doors On Ye
The Polish cancellation follows a wave of rejections. The U.K. blocked the 48-year-old from travelling there to headline a festival. Britain said it has blocked West from entering the country, leading to the cancellation of a London music festival where he had been scheduled to perform over three nights in July.
In France, West postponed his June 11 show at Marseille’s Orange Vélodrome _“until further notice”_. French media reported Interior Minister Laurent Nunez was looking to ban the gig. A source close to Nunez told AFP the minister was _“highly determined”_ to axe the event.
On Saturday, Swiss football club FC Basel also cancelled a planned West concert at St. Jakob-Park. The club said: _“we cannot, in accordance with our values, provide a platform for the artist in question within this context”_.
Wireless Festival, a major celebration of urban music, has now been cancelled amid criticism over its association with the rapper.
Holocaust Survivors Call For Wider Ban
Voices from across Europe are getting louder. Holocaust survivors and advocacy groups are urging more countries to take a stand and deny West performance opportunities on the continent.
Cienkowska said Warsaw had the means to bar entry of undesirable individuals and, if necessary, it _“will resort to them”_.
Ye was barred from Australia last year after releasing a song promoting Nazism and advertising swastika T-shirts on his website. In January, the rapper apologised for his behaviour, which he attributed to untreated bipolar disorder, and renounced past expressions of admiration for Adolf Hitler.
US, Mexico Shows Go On As Europe Shuts Doors On Ye
Despite the backlash overseas, West has still performed in the United States and Mexico City earlier this year. Further concerts are planned in Europe and Asia.

A rep for West did not immediately respond to requests for comment. After his concert appeared to be cancelled by the stadium, Kanye has so far remained silent on the matter.
