Ghana Mourns as Actress Beverly Afaglo Dies Just Days Before Her 43rd Birthday
Popular Ghanaian actress and media personality, Beverly Afaglo, has died, leaving fans and colleagues in shock after news of her passing emerged just four days before her 43rd birthday.
Her husband, Eugene Kwadwo Baah, widely known as Choirmaster of the Hiplife music group Praye, confirmed the heartbreaking news in a social media post on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
The cause of her death has not yet been disclosed.
In an emotional tribute, Choirmaster described his late wife as the centre of his life and happiness, expressing deep grief over her sudden passing.
“My heart is shattered beyond words over the death of my beloved wife Beverly Afaglo,” he wrote.
“It would have been just like four more days to your birthday, but I guess the Lord wanted to celebrate with you, so He called you.
“You were my strength, my happiness, and the reason my life felt complete. Every moment with you was a blessing I will cherish forever.”
He added that her presence still felt close to him, saying, “I am hearing your voice right now, cheering me up as always, my number one fan. I promise to take care and continue everything we planned and started. Until my last breath, you will remain in my heart forever. Sleep well, my baby.”
He also described her as a “legend,” noting that her death is not only a personal loss but a painful moment for many who admired her.
A member of the Praye music group, Praye Tietia, also confirmed in an interview that the actress had been unwell for several weeks, though hopes had remained that she would recover.
The family is expected to release an official statement in the coming days.
Born on May 28, 1983, Afaglo was widely celebrated for her roles in Ghanaian film and television, featuring in several productions including Return of Beyonce (2006), Crime to Christ (2007), Girls Connection (2008), Prince’s Bride, Never Again (2010), Turn Me On (2010), The Game (2010), and Single Six (2011).
Her filmography also includes Equatorial Escape (2011), Secret Burden (2012), The King’s Bride, Total Exchange, PlayBoy, Big Girls Club, CEO, and About to Wed.
