The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has approved the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
The announcement was made on Friday, June 19, 2026, by the outgoing Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anthony Okon Placid, marking a leadership transition in the Force Public Relations Department, which serves as the main communication bridge between the Nigeria Police Force and the public.
CSP Iniedu is described as an experienced officer with a strong background in public communication, operational policing, intelligence coordination, institutional accountability, and administrative leadership.
He hails from Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo.
According to the statement, he has also completed several professional trainings in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, human rights-based policing, strategic communication, and intelligence analysis.
Before his new role, CSP Iniedu served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he oversaw public complaints management and led reforms aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and public trust in the police.
His tenure at the CRU was marked by efforts to strengthen citizen engagement and improve how the police respond to grievances from members of the public.
He previously served as Public Relations Officer at the Police College of Information Technology, Kobape, Ogun State, alongside several operational and administrative postings across the country.
His earlier roles include Operations Officer at Maisandari Division in Yobe State Command, Area Crime Officer at Umuahia Area Command in Abia State, and Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat at Force Headquarters.
He also served as Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa, Abuja, and later as Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room, where he coordinated the monitoring and dissemination of security information nationwide.
The Inspector-General of Police expressed confidence in his appointment, describing CSP Iniedu as a capable officer suited for the demands of the office.
According to the statement, the IGP believes his experience will “further enhance the Force’s strategic communication efforts and strengthen public engagement in support of ongoing policing reforms and operational successes.”
CSP Iniedu assumes office immediately and will be responsible for managing the public communication strategy and image of the Nigeria Police Force.
