Thousands of flights have been cancelled as the conflict in Iran continues to disrupt global air travel. Major Middle Eastern airports, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha, remain closed or severely restricted, causing widespread disruptions to air travel.
The conflict escalated after U.S. and Israeli strikes killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, leading to retaliatory attacks on Gulf states and airports. Dubai International Airport, one of the world’s busiest, has been closed since Saturday, with Emirates suspending all flights to and from the city until further notice.
Other affected airports include Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport and Doha’s Hamad International Airport, with several airlines cancelling or rerouting flights. The disruptions have caused chaos for passengers, with many stranded or facing delayed travel plans.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has warned of significant economic impacts, with global air travel already feeling the strain. Airlines are facing increased fuel costs and longer flight times due to airspace closures and rerouting.
