Man Gets 2-Year Jail Term After Admitting to Stealing Beyoncé’s Unreleased Music
A man accused of breaking into a vehicle and stealing unreleased songs belonging to global superstar, Beyoncé, has been sentenced to two years in prison after striking a plea deal with prosecutors.
The defendant, identified as Kelvin Evans, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to multiple charges tied to the theft, bringing an end to a case that could have gone to full trial in Atlanta.
According to investigators, Evans was captured on surveillance footage allegedly breaking into an SUV rented by a member of Beyoncé’s team just two days before her Atlanta stop on the “Cowboy Carter” tour.
Authorities say a flash drive containing unreleased Beyoncé tracks was among the items taken during the incident.
Evans had initially denied the allegations and rejected an earlier plea offer in March. If convicted at trial, he could have faced up to six years behind bars.
However, under the new agreement reached with prosecutors, he was handed a reduced sentence of two years in prison.
Prosecutors also suggested Evans may have been involved in a series of other vehicle break-ins in the area, though those allegations were not fully detailed in court.
The case adds to growing concerns over security breaches targeting high-profile artistes and their unreleased creative works.
