NYSC Members Among 6 Killed in Girei-Song Collision Wednesday

Six people lost their lives, including four National Youth Service Corps members, after a fatal crash in Adamawa State on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

The accident happened around 1:50 p.m. along Narehi in Girei-Song Local Government Area, according to Adamawa Police Command.

Police spokesperson Suleiman Nguroje confirmed the details in a statement on Wednesday night. He said a military gun truck heading from Gombi to Yola collided head-on with a commercial Hummer bus carrying five passengers from Yola to Mubi.

Nguroje explained that preliminary findings showed the bus overturned after impact and was engulfed in flames.

Three victims have been named as Suleuman Juliet and Usman Shuaibu, both from Kaduna State, and Hafsat Hassan. Police said the identities of the other victims are still being confirmed.

Authorities also confirmed that one soldier attached to the military vehicle died in the crash.

Nguroje added that police officers and emergency teams rushed to the scene. The bodies were moved to the Specialist Hospital in Yola while efforts continue to identify the remaining deceased and contact their families.

The Adamawa Commissioner of Police sent condolences to the families, the Nigerian Armed Forces, NYSC, and everyone affected by the tragedy.
