Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged citizens across the country to help protect our environment. She believes keeping things clean and protecting nature shouldn’t just be the government’s job, but something we all do together.
She spoke about this in Abuja on Monday, during the International Day of Clean Energy 2026. This day is celebrated around the world with the idea Clean Energy for People and Planet.” The First Lady said that what we do now will change the Earth’s health for our children and grandchildren.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu said that protecting the environment is more than just talking about rules; it should be part of what we do every day. She said taking care of the environment by handling waste well, keeping things clean, and doing things that help nature is important for our country’s health and future.
Talking about clean energy and how it helps the environment, the First Lady told Nigerians to use energy from renewable sources and new, Earth-friendly ones. She said clean energy is super important for our survival, health, and taking good care of the environment.
She thinks that changing to renewable energy is good for the environment, and it also makes our lives better and our future safer.
She asked everyone – people, groups, organisations– to join forces to create a greener, healthier place. She stated that if we use clean energy and act in ways that help nature, we can really cut down on pollution and make our world cleaner.
The First Lady also wished everyone well, hoping they have a great International Day of Clean Energy and keep working to protect our environment.
The International Day of Clean Energy happens every year on January 26. The United Nations made this day to make people think and act to switch to clean energy.
