Poco Lee Reportedly Released After Weeks in UK Detention
Nigerian dancer and entertainer reportedly regains freedom after weeks on remand in the UK as criminal proceedings remain ongoing.
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Nigerian dancer, hypeman and entertainer Iweh Pascal Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, has reportedly been released from UK custody after spending several weeks on remand.
Reports of his release emerged on Friday, September 11, with friends and associates confirming that the entertainer had regained his freedom. Nigerian media reports also quoted social media personality Peller as claiming that Poco Lee had been released.
However, as of the latest available reports, there has been no publicly available statement from Snaresbrook Crown Court confirming the circumstances of his release. Claims that the complainant withdrew or dropped the case have also not been independently confirmed by the court.
Poco Lee’s UK case
Poco Lee’s detention became public in August after reports emerged that he was being held on remand in a UK prison.
The development came shortly after the entertainer travelled to the United Kingdom for the Davido and Friends concert at the Crystal Palace Bowl in London on August 14, 2026. Poco Lee was seen at the event alongside Davido and other Nigerian entertainers. Reports of his detention surfaced several days later.
On August 27, Snaresbrook Crown Court confirmed that Poco Lee was facing five sexual offences.
According to the court information reported by PUNCH and Premium Times, the charges are:
- One count of attempted rape
- Two counts of rape
- Two counts of assault by penetration
The court also confirmed that a reporting restriction had been imposed to protect the identity of the complainant.
September 15 court hearing
Before reports of his release emerged, Poco Lee’s case had been listed for a plea and trial preparation hearing on September 15, 2026, at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
The hearing was expected to be an important stage in the criminal proceedings, allowing the court to deal with the defendant’s plea and preparations for any subsequent trial. The court had previously confirmed the September 15 listing directly to PUNCH.
It is not yet clear from the latest publicly available reports whether the September 15 hearing will still proceed in its previously scheduled form following the reported release.
Management urged restraint
When details of the case first began circulating, Poco Lee’s management and legal representatives called on members of the public and the media to avoid spreading unverified information.
The management particularly disputed online claims involving alleged drink spiking, saying such claims did not form part of the charges confirmed by the court.
The team stressed that allegations should not be treated as proof of guilt and that the matter should be allowed to go through the UK judicial process.
Friends rally around Poco Lee
Following reports of his detention, several of Poco Lee’s friends and colleagues publicly expressed support for him.
Filmmaker TG Omori described Poco Lee as someone he had known for years and expressed his disappointment over the situation.
Socialite Rahman Jago also voiced his support, saying he believed there was more to the situation than what had been publicly reported and urging people not to use the case to chase social media attention.
What the reported release means
Poco Lee’s reported release does not by itself mean that the criminal proceedings have been dismissed or that he has been cleared of the allegations.
The five charges previously confirmed by Snaresbrook Crown Court remain allegations unless and until they are dealt with through the legal process.
Similarly, claims that the complainant has withdrawn the case have not been independently verified through an official court statement available at the time of publication.
