The Federal Government has launched a new Power Control Centre as part of efforts to strengthen the management of Nigeria’s electricity grid and address persistent power outages.
The initiative is expected to improve monitoring and coordination within the power sector, giving authorities greater oversight of electricity generation, transmission and distribution.
Persistent blackouts remain a major challenge for households, businesses and industries across Nigeria, with unreliable electricity supply continuing to affect economic activity and daily life.
The new control centre is part of the government’s wider efforts to improve the reliability and efficiency of the national electricity system.
The development also comes as the Federal Government engages electricity Distribution Companies, DisCos, on plans to establish areas capable of receiving more consistent power supply.
