South Africa Violence Claims Nigerian Student: Isaac Satlat’s Legacy Lives On, Buried Amidst Calls for Justice.
Isaac Satlat, a 22-year-old Nigerian student, was buried in his hometown, Mhiship village, in Plateau State, Nigeria. His body arrived in Abuja on March 18, and a memorial service was held on March 20 at The Dominion Chapel International Church. Isaac was laid to rest on March 21, surrounded by family, friends, and community members.
Isaac was a mobile engineering student at Divine Favour Progressive College in Pretoria, South Africa, and was brutally murdered by car hijackers on February 11, 2026. His body was found in Atteridgeville, Pretoria, with multiple gunshot wounds, and his vehicle was stolen.
The Nigerian community in South Africa and the Nigerian Union mobilised to raise funds for Isaac’s repatriation, which was estimated to cost R70,000.
Three suspects, Dikeledi Mphela, Goitsione Machidi, and McClaren Mushwana, were arrested and charged with murder and robbery. A fourth suspect is still at large. The case has sparked widespread outrage and concerns about the safety of Nigerians living in South Africa.
