Stop Dragging Tinubu Into Your Mess” — Pro-Tinubu Group Fires Back at ADC Over 2027 Claims.
A pro-government advocacy group, the Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG), has told the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to focus on fixing its internal rifts instead of pointing fingers at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The group dismissed the ADC’s recent claims of a plot to force Tinubu in as the sole presidential candidate for the 2027 election, describing the allegation as nothing more than a “malicious and ridiculous fabrication.”
In a statement issued by its Chairman, Emeka Nwankpa, and Secretary, Dapo Okubanjo, TMSG said it found the accusations baffling, insisting there was no basis for claims that unnamed APC figures were trying to destabilise the ADC.
The group also reacted to reports that ADC leaders had accused certain forces of attempting to pressure the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise a faction of the party other than the one linked to former Senate President, David Mark.
According to TMSG, the crisis rocking the ADC did not begin now and has little to do with the APC or the presidency. Instead, it said the party has long been grappling with leadership disputes and structural disagreements.
The group recalled that in 2025, a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, attempted to take over the ADC’s political structure — a move that sparked serious controversy within the party.
Several ADC members reportedly resisted the arrangement, arguing that proper procedures were ignored and that the party’s National Executive Committee was sidelined.
TMSG also pointed to remarks by a factional spokesman, Christopher Okechukwu, who allegedly labelled the camp aligned with David Mark as “interlopers” carrying out what he called a “hostile takeover.”
The group questioned why the ADC would drag the President into what it described as a purely internal dispute, especially when the matter is already before the courts.
“Was it the ruling party that stopped the Atiku group from doing proper groundwork when they were looking for a platform to challenge the APC?” the statement asked.
TMSG maintained that building a strong political party takes time, discipline and careful organisation. It noted that the rise of the APC was the result of years of strategic work by party leaders, including Tinubu and former President, Muhammadu Buhari.
The group concluded by urging ADC leaders to channel their energy into resolving their internal crisis and rebuilding the party rather than blaming outside forces for their troubles.
