President Bola Tinubu has pledged to intensify efforts to address insecurity across Nigeria, saying the safety and well-being of citizens remain a top priority.
He made the assurance on Sunday, March 22, in Lagos, the nation’s commercial capital, while hosting Vice President Kashim Shettima and 23 governors at his residence for Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
Tinubu revealed he had discussed security interventions with French President Emmanuel Macron, securing equipment and support to tackle the menace.
“Insecurity is an enemy of development, progress, and prosperity,” he said, urging governors to remain committed to translating their ideas into policies that benefit citizens.
The President also expressed concern about the impact of the Middle East crisis on inflation and energy prices, advising governors to provide incentives to cushion the effects on citizens.
He thanked Shettima for his condolence visit to Borno State, assuring the people of stronger protection through new technology.
The governors, led by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, praised Tinubu’s leadership and thanked him for his intervention in their states through the Renewed Hope Agenda. They also discussed state police, with the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) planning to present a proposal to the National Assembly
