Police Arrest Suspect in Ondo Rape and Murder Case Using Victim’s Phone Trail

 

A 21-year-old man, Alabi Anthony, has been arrested in Ondo State for the alleged rape and murder of Olaseni Veronica, a woman from the Iboropa community, Akoko North-East Local Government Area. The police tracked the victim’s missing phone, leading to the suspect’s arrest. Anthony confessed to the crime, stating he raped and strangled Veronica.

According to the state police command, the arrest followed a careful, intelligence-driven operation. Police spokesperson Jimoh Abayomi explained that investigators were able to trace the victim’s missing phone, a breakthrough that led them straight to the suspect.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted to the crime, confessing that he assaulted the victim before taking her life.

Abayomi condemned the act, describing it as deeply cruel, and assured the public that the police are committed to ensuring justice is fully served.

The case has since been moved to the state headquarters in Akure for further investigation and prosecution.

Authorities have also called on residents to stay alert and report anything suspicious, stressing that timely information can make a big difference in solving serious crimes.

The incident has stirred fear and anger within the community, with many demanding swift justice and stronger security measures.
