A wave of grief has struck a community in Benue State after a former local government chairman passed away just days after the sudden death of his wife.
Moses Shirsha, the former Chairman of Konshisha Local Government Area, reportedly died four days after his wife, Mercy Mngu, passed away unexpectedly.
Sources said Mercy died suddenly on March 25, 2026, leaving family members and residents in shock. While preparing for her burial, Shirsha travelled to his village to make arrangements but reportedly collapsed on March 29 and died shortly afterwards.
Family members have announced that the late couple will be buried on the same day, April 10, 2026, in Mbaasuku, Mbator Gaav, located in Konshisha Local Government Area.
The heartbreaking development has drawn sympathy from residents and associates who described the back-to-back losses as a painful tragedy for the family and the entire community.
