Londoners and visitors are set to benefit from cheaper bus and tram travel this summer after Transport for London (TfL) announced a major shake-up to its fare system.
The changes include the introduction of a new Weekend Hopper offer, allowing passengers to enjoy unlimited bus and tram journeys on Saturdays and Sundays for the price of a single £1.75 fare between 25 July and 31 August 2026.
The announcement comes as the Mayor of London also confirmed that the current freeze on bus and tram fares has been extended until 1 November 2026, ensuring that the £1.75 single fare remains unchanged for millions of commuters during the summer months.
Under the new Weekend Hopper scheme, passengers can board as many buses and trams as they like throughout the day after paying just one fare, replacing the existing one-hour Hopper limit on weekends during the promotional period. The initiative is designed to encourage residents and tourists to explore more of the capital while helping to ease the cost of living.
City Hall said the measures build on the success of the Hopper fare, introduced in 2016, which has already enabled more than a billion discounted journeys across London’s bus network.
The fare freeze means London continues to offer some of the most affordable bus travel in the UK, even as fares for Tube and rail services increased earlier this year.
The changes are expected to make public transport more attractive during the busy summer season, offering families, tourists and regular commuters a cheaper way to travel around the capital.
