Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has confirmed that Deputy Governor, Murtala Garo, will remain his running mate in the 2027 governorship election, citing his loyalty, competence and outstanding performance in office.
The Governor made the announcement during a strategic meeting with federal political appointees of President Bola Tinubu at the Kano Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Yusuf said the decision followed Garo’s commitment to the administration and his consistent contributions since assuming office.
Yusuf said he remained convinced that choosing Garo as his deputy was the right decision and expressed confidence in his ability to continue supporting the government’s vision.
“I have no regrets for choosing Garo as my Deputy in the last few months, and he has proven to be the right choice so far,” the Governor said. “I want to confirm to you that I have every confidence in him.”
The Governor praised Garo for his role in the administration, saying his dedication and commitment have significantly contributed to the implementation of development programmes across Kano State.
“He has demonstrated competence, dedication, and a strong sense of responsibility in the discharge of his duties,” Yusuf added.
Reaffirming his confidence in the Deputy Governor, Yusuf described Garo as a dependable partner whose support has been crucial to the successful execution of key government policies and programmes.
He also called on Party leaders, political appointees and supporters to remain united and committed as preparations gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We must remain focused and committed as we consolidate on our achievements and move forward together,” the Governor said.
