Moniepoint Moves Into Food Tech With Orda Africa Acquisition

In a strategic push into Africa’s booming food business, Moniepoint Inc. has acquired Orda Africa, a startup that builds digital tools for restaurants. The deal signals Moniepoint’s plan to play a bigger role in how food businesses operate and grow across the continent.

The company said Orda will now be integrated into its Moniebook platform, a system designed to help businesses manage payments, track operations, and manage day-to-day activities in one place.

By bringing both platforms together, Moniepoint aims to provide restaurant owners with a more comprehensive toolkit, covering everything from processing payments to accessing credit and running their kitchens more efficiently.

The move comes as Africa’s food service industry continues to expand rapidly, with billions of dollars in market value and strong growth projections, especially in Nigeria.

Speaking on the development, Moniepoint’s CEO, Tosin Eniolorunda, said the goal is to unlock more value in a sector that supports millions of people.

He noted that beyond providing meals, the food industry plays a crucial role in job creation and everyday livelihoods, adding that the integration will simplify how restaurant owners manage and scale their businesses.

Founded in 2020, Orda has built a reputation for helping small and independent food vendors handle orders, monitor stock, and improve efficiency through its software.

Its CEO, Guy Futi, described the acquisition as a natural step forward, saying it will combine Orda’s operational tools with stronger financial backing to create more opportunities for users, without disrupting their current workflow.

Moniepoint added that the combined solution will cater to a wide range of food entrepreneurs, from street vendors to large-scale restaurants, helping them better manage finances and access funding when needed.

The company says the move is part of a bigger plan to build a robust digital ecosystem that empowers small and medium-sized businesses across Africa.
