Abuja, Nigeria-The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), through its Schools Protection Squad (SPS) Command and Control Centre at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, has launched a 24-hour emergency reporting channel to address school-related security threats and emergencies across the country.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening the safety and security of students, teachers, and educational institutions by encouraging prompt reporting of potential dangers.
According to the Police, the emergency channel can be used to report incidents such as attacks on schools, attacks on student hostels both on and off campus, bullying, molestation, harassment, kidnapping or abduction of students, suspicious movements around school premises, and suspicious individuals seen on routes to and from schools.
Parents, students, teachers, school administrators, community leaders, and members of the public have been urged to make use of the platform whenever they notice any threat or unusual activity within school environments.
The Schools Protection Squad can be reached through calls or WhatsApp on 0807 735 7777, with the service operating 24 hours a day to receive emergency reports and SOS alerts.
In addition, the Squad is accessible through the Police VGS mobile application.
The Nigerian Police emphasised that school safety is a collective responsibility and noted that early reporting can play a critical role in preventing security incidents and protecting children.
Authorities encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant and report concerns promptly, stressing the importance of the principle: “If you see something, say something.”
