The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has called on Nigerians living in the United Kingdom who completed their Contactless Passport applications but are yet to receive their passports to submit their details for resolution.
The Service appealed to part of efforts to address outstanding passport applications and complaints from Nigerians experiencing delays in receiving their travel documents.
Affected applicants have been asked to provide information about their applications through the NIS’s Contactless Passport Application Resolution process. The details will enable immigration officials to identify pending cases and investigate the reasons for the delays.
The NIS urged applicants who have already completed the Contactless Passport process but have not received their passports to take advantage of the resolution exercise rather than submitting a fresh application without first confirming the status of their existing application.
The development comes as the NIS begins a special passport intervention exercise across four cities in the United Kingdom.
The intervention exercise, scheduled to run from September 7 to September 26, 2026, will cover London, Manchester, Aberdeen and Cardiff.
The exercise is expected to assist Nigerians with new passport applications, renewals and outstanding passport cases.
The first phase, running from September 7 to September 19, will take place in London and Manchester, while the second phase, scheduled for September 21 to September 26, will cover Aberdeen and Cardiff.
The intervention is aimed at easing passport-related challenges faced by Nigerians in the UK, including delays and pending applications.
Applicants attending the exercise are expected to follow the NIS requirements and have their relevant application details and supporting documents available.
For Nigerians who have been waiting for their Contactless Passports, the NIS resolution process provides an opportunity to bring their cases to the attention of the Service for further investigation.
The Immigration Service has encouraged affected applicants to provide accurate information when submitting their details and to continue monitoring official NIS channels for further updates.
The development is expected to provide relief to Nigerians who have experienced prolonged delays in obtaining or renewing their Nigerian passports in the UK.
