Traffic Alert: Lagos Announces Major Road Closures for Project Commissioning.

Motorists in Lagos should brace for traffic disruptions as the State Government rolls out temporary road closures across several key areas for the commissioning of major infrastructure projects.

The announcement was made by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, who said the measures are necessary to ensure safety and smooth coordination during the official events scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.

Drivers have been advised to plan their trips carefully and consider alternative routes during the affected periods to avoid heavy congestion.

According to the statement, the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge will be commissioned on Wednesday, April 8, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The event is expected to affect traffic around Opebi-Allen, Ikeja, and Ojota.

Motorists travelling through the corridor during those hours are encouraged to divert to other routes to reduce delays and gridlock.

On Thursday, April 9, two additional commissioning ceremonies will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. One of them is the opening of the Tolu Schools Complex, which will impact traffic in the Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle areas.

Later that same day, another event will hold from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. around Eko Hotel & Suites in Victoria Island, where motorists are also advised to expect possible delays.

Officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be deployed to manage traffic flow and guide road users throughout the period.

The events are expected to be attended by Bola Tinubu, with authorities confirming that about 500 additional traffic officers have been mobilised to help maintain order on the roads.
