Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to nations supplying weapons to Iran, saying they will face immediate 50 percent tariffs with “no exemptions.”
The U.S. President shared the announcement on his Truth Social account on Wednesday, April 8, following a ceasefire agreement reached between the U.S. and Iran the night before.
Trump wrote: “A country supplying military weapons to Iran will be immediately tariffed on any and all goods sold to the United States of America, 50%, effective immediately. There will be no exclusions or exemptions!”
In addition, Trump addressed Iran’s nuclear program, declaring that the country would not be allowed to enrich uranium. He added that the U S. would work closely with Iran to “dig up and remove” nuclear material that had been buried following U.S. strikes last year.
“The United States will work closely with Iran, which we have determined has gone through what will be a very productive Regime Change!” Trump posted hours after announcing a two-week ceasefire in the ongoing Middle East conflict.
He also wrote: “There will be no enrichment of Uranium, and the United States will, working with Iran, dig up and remove all of the deeply buried (B-2 Bombers) Nuclear ‘Dust,’” referring to the aftermath of US military actions on Iranian nuclear facilities last year.
This latest move signals a hardline stance by Trump, emphasising economic pressure alongside military oversight to curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions and prevent foreign support for its weapons programs.
