Yul Edochie Criticises Late Alexx Ekubo for Keeping Marriage Secret
Yul says fear of public opinion should never stop people from living their truth.

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has stirred conversations online after expressing his views on the late Alexx Ekubo’s decision to keep his marriage away from the public eye.
Reacting to reports that Alexx Ekubo secretly married businesswoman and corporate executive Anwulika Amakom Ekubo in December 2024, Yul argued that people should not hide important aspects of their lives out of fear of public opinion.
According to Yul Edochie, individuals should not allow criticism or societal pressure to influence major personal decisions.
“He shouldn’t have hidden anything from anyone. It wasn’t necessary. People must learn to stop worrying about what people say. No matter what you do in life, people must talk. So leave them to talk. Leave blogs to blog. To be great in life, you must never make yourself small for anyone or any reason. Give them things to talk about while you ignore them and enjoy your life,” Yul stated.
The comments come amid growing public interest in the private life of the late actor, whose marriage only became public knowledge following his passing. The revelation was reportedly confirmed by media personalities, including Grace Makun and blogger Stella Dimoko Korkus.
Anwulika Amakom Ekubo, who has largely remained away from public attention, is a respected businesswoman and serves as Executive Director at NOG Oil and Gas Limited. Since the news of her marriage to the late actor emerged, many Nigerians have praised her composure, dignity, and resilience during the difficult period.
Tributes continue to pour in for Alexx Ekubo from colleagues, friends, and fans across the entertainment industry, while discussions surrounding his private life have sparked wider debates about celebrity privacy and the pressure public figures face in sharing personal matters with the public.
While opinions remain divided, Yul Edochie’s remarks have added another layer to the ongoing conversation about fame, privacy, and the expectations placed on celebrities.
