Africa Magic Opens Call for Entries for the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA)
Africa Magic, in partnership with MultiChoice, has announced the call for entries for the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA). These awards are kind of a big deal – they’re like the Oscars for African film and TV, so it is Africa’s biggest party for celebrating the best in movies and TV shows.
If you’re a filmmaker or content creator from anywhere in Africa, now’s your chance to shine. You can submit your work starting from January 11th all the way until February 15th, 2026. So, you have plenty of time to get your entries in.
MultiChoice sees the AMVCAs as a really important project. It’s all about giving props to the amazing storytelling happening in African film and television. The 12th edition is set to put a spotlight on how much the African entertainment scene has grown, how creative people are getting, and how much potential there is on the world stage. It’s also about keeping the AMVCAs at the top of the list as the most respected awards show on the continent.
This year, Don Julio is headlining the show as the Lead Sponsor. It sounds like the awards are getting bigger and better, which have a strong cultural focus with high quality, and really celebrate what Africa has to offer.
One of the coolest things about the AMVCAs is how they support both well-known and up-and-coming talent. The 12th edition is making things even better by reaching out to more parts of Africa. They’re adding new categories for the best films in local languages from North and Central Africa.
What this means is that the AMVCAs are serious about representing all of Africa, protecting different cultures, and making sure everyone gets a fair shot. They want to make sure that all the different languages, regions, and creative voices in Africa are celebrated.

In total, there will be 32 awards given out. The jury will pick the winners for 18 of them, and the audience gets to vote on 11. There will also be two special awards: one for Lifetime Achievement and another for a Trailblazer.
To be eligible, your film or show needs to have been broadcast or shown to the public between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025. If it’s a full-length movie, it needs to have been shown in theatres, on TV, or on a streaming service.

You will need to submit everything online through the official AMVCA website. Make sure to upload a full copy of your film or show. You can find all the details about the rules, who can enter, and what you need to submit on their website: https://www.dstv.com/africamagic/en-ng/show/amvca
The AMVCAs are known for being a huge celebration of African talent. There are amazing outfits, awesome red-carpet moments, and a real sense of cultural pride.
