
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated Acting Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the elevation as well-deserved.
In a statement, the governor praised Disu’s long-standing service in the Nigeria Police Force, noting that the new Acting Inspector-General had devoted more than three decades to policing with professionalism and discipline.
Sanwo-Olu said Disu earned the appointment through years of consistent service and proven results, adding that his leadership qualities and operational experience make him well-suited for the nation’s top police position.
According to the governor, Lagos residents witnessed Disu’s leadership and effectiveness during his tenure as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), where he demonstrated a deep understanding of security challenges and community dynamics in the state.

He noted that Disu approached policing with focus and courage, qualities he said would be important in addressing the country’s current security challenges.
Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that the Acting Inspector-General would bring the same clarity of purpose to his new role and work toward strengthening accountability and effectiveness within the Nigeria Police Force.
The governor also emphasised the importance of a professional and responsive police institution, stating that Nigeria requires a police force capable of protecting citizens and maintaining public trust.![]()
He concluded by congratulating the Acting Inspector-General once again, noting that Lagos State is proud of his achievement and confident in his ability to succeed in the role.
